Thomas Hepburn has been a Reiki practitioner since 2004. The precepts that Reiki practitioners aspire to live by are as follows:
- Just for today do not anger.
- Just for today do not worry.
- Honour your parents, teachers and elders.
- Earn your living honestly.
- Show gratitude to every living thing.
Reiki is actually two words, “Rei” and “Ki”. Rei means spiritual or sacred and Ki means life force. Ki is a Japanese word and has its equivalent in the Chinese languages as Chi and in India the word is prana.
Reiki practitioners believe that life force energy is universal and surrounds us and can be used to induce a healing effect. Reiki practitioners go through an attunement process with a Reiki Master. This then allows them to tune in to and become a conductor for the life force energy and induce it in to clients by the placing of the hands either on or close to the client. The client’s wishes, as always, are paramount in this regard.
What are the benefits?
Reiki is an energy that can balance the internal energies system promoting the body’s inherent natural capacity for healing on all levels; mental, emotional, physical and spiritual. In this way Reiki can encourage personal and spiritual development and can also help with a wide range of issues and conditions as it develops the mind/body connection and puts the client in a better position to handle all of life’s highs and lows. Reiki produces a great sense of relaxation and therefore encourages the body’s healing processes.
Who can benefit from it?
The mind – body connection and healthy function of the energy system and healing techniques are ideas that have had currency for thousands of years in eastern cultures and philosophies. In recent years increasing numbers of people have been turning to complementary therapies such as Reiki to develop and boost their well-being and peace of mind
Reiki is simple and safe and suitable for anyone at all but particularly for those interested in healing, personal development and meditation. Reiki energy is directed at boosting the body’s energy system and a robust energy system is the foundation of healthy body and mental function. There is much anecdotal evidence to suggest that Reiki has a positive effect on animals, plants and flowers.

What about side-effects?
With Reiki there are no side-effects and it will not interfere with medication. People from all walks of life and belief systems seek Reiki treatments. During treatment the client may experience coolness, heat, see colours, have a floating or a sinking sensation or emotional release. These experiences indicate that healing is taking place.
No Reiki sessions will take place without full consultation with the client beforehand. Please feel free to contact Thomas for a free no obligation consultation.
